What is Family Sharing?

Family Sharing lets you and up to five other family members share access to Apple services, purchases, an iCloud storage plan, and more. You can even help locate each other’s missing devices.

One adult family member—the organizer—invites other family members to participate. When family members join, Family Sharing is set up on everyone’s devices automatically. The group then chooses which services and features they want to use and share.

Part 1 How to Share Apple Music with Family Sharing

The family organizer can easily invite family members who have an Apple ID or create an Apple ID for a child who doesn’t have one yet.

Step 1. How to add a member to a Family Sharing?

On iOS 16 or later

1. Go to Settings > [your name] > Family Sharing.
2. Tap the blue add icon in the upper-right corner.
3. Tap Invite Others, then follow the onscreen instructions.
4. You can send the invitation using AirDrop, Messages, or Mail. If you’re near the family member, you can also tap Invite in Person and ask the family member to enter their Apple ID and password on your device.

On  iOS 15 or earlier

1. Go to Settings > [your name] > Family Sharing.
2. Tap Add Member.
3. Tap Invite People. If your child doesn’t have an Apple ID, tap Create an Account for a Child.
4. You can send invitations by AirDrop, Messages, Mail, Invite in Person and more.
5. If you choose Invite in Person, family members can enter their Apple ID password on your device to accept the invitation.
6. Follow the onscreen instructions.

On macOS Ventura 13 and later

1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Family in the sidebar. If you don’t see Family, set up Family Sharing first.
2. Click Add Member on the right and follow the instructions.

On macOS Monterey 12 and earlier

1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, click Family Sharing , then select Family Sharing in the sidebar.
2. Click the Add button and follow the instructions.

Step 2. How to join a family group

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap your name.
3. Tap Invitations.
4. Follow the onscreen instructions.

On your Mac

1. Click the invitation you received from the family organizer using Mail, Messages, or AirDrop.
2. Click Join Family.

How to delete a member from Family Sharing on iPhone?

1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap your name, then tap Family Sharing.
3. Tap the member you want to remove.
4. Tap Remove from Your Family.

How to change to Apple Music Family subscription on iPhone?

1. Open the Settings app. 
2. Tap your name, then tap Subscriptions.
