How to Get Apple Music Lossless on Windows

Apple Music full catalog of more than 90 million songs is available in lossless audio now. You can listen to Apple Music lossless on your iPhone or iPad, Mac, HomePod, Apple TV 4K and Android device.

In Apple Music, “Lossless” refers to lossless audio up to 48kHz, and “Hi-Res Lossless” refers to lossless audio from 48kHz to 192kHz. Lossless and Hi-Res Lossless files are very large and use much more bandwidth and storage space than standard AAC files. Lossless audio is not available with Apple Music Voice Plan.

The only non-Apple platform that supports Apple Music lossless audio is Android. Windows 11 happens to be able to run Android apps. So, you just need to install Apple Music Android app on Windows 11.

Option 1 Install Apple Music Android App on Windows 11

When Windows 11 was announced, one of its most interesting features was the ability to install and run Android apps natively.

  1. Press the Windows key and type Windows Subsystem for Android to search for it.
  2. Open Windows Subsystem for Android.
  3. Click on Files at the top to open the built-on File manager app and start the Android layer.
  4. Scroll down and toggle on Developer mode.
  5. Click the Refresh button next to IP address.
  6. Click Copy to copy the IP address. 
  7. Launch Terminal from the start menu.
  8. Enter this command to connect using ADB. adb connect <IP Address>
    • Replace <IP Address> in the above command with the copied IP address using a right-click. For example, adb connect 172.30.241.207
  9. Next, type adb install, press space, then drag and drop the downloaded APK file into the Terminal and hit Enter.
  10. Once Apple Music is installed, you will see a Success message in the Terminal.

How to turn on lossless with Apple Music Android App on Windows 11:

  1. Open the Apple Music app.
  2. Tap the More button the More button.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Audio Quality.
  5. Tap Lossless to turn it on or off. From here, you can choose the audio quality for streaming and downloading audio.
  • Lossless for a maximum resolution of 24-bit/48 kHz
  • Hi-Res Lossless for a maximum resolution of 24-bit/192 kHz
