2 Ways to play Audible audiobook on Roku

While Audible is not currently available as a standalone channel on Roku devices, there is a workaround that allows you to listen to Audible audiobooks on your Roku device. This workaround involves using the screen mirroring feature on your mobile device to stream the Audible app to your Roku device.

Option 1 Screen Mirror Audible on Roku

On iOS

  1. Make sure your mobile device and Roku device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. Enable screen mirroring on your Roku device. You can do this by going to Settings > System > Screen mirroring and selecting the option to enable screen mirroring.
  3. Launch Audible app and log in your account.
  4. Play the audiobook you want to mirror to Roku.
  5. Navigate to Now Playing in the menu bar.
  6. Tap Connect to Device and choose your Roku device.
  7. Now you can listen to the Audible audiobook on your Roku device.

On Mac

  1. Make sure your Mac and Roku are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. Go to Audible Library in your browser, log in your account.
  3. Download the audiobooks to your Mac.
  4. Play the audiobook with Books app, you will be asked to authorize this computer for your Audible account.
  5. Click the AirPlay icon on the top right corner and choose your Roku device.

On PC

  1. Go to Audible Library in your browser, log in your account.
  2. Choose any audiobook you want to listen to and play it.
  3. Now, press the Windows + K keys simultaneously on your keyboard.
  4. Then, choose your Roku device from the list of available devices.
  5. Finally, you can listen to your favorite audiobooks on your Roku TV.

If you have downloaded the audiobooks to your PC, play them with iTunes and click the AirPlay icon on the top left corner and choose your Roku device.

Option 2 Play Audible on Roku with Roku Media Player

Roku Media Player is a channel available for download through the Roku Channel Store. It may also be pre-installed on some Roku® streaming devices. Roku Media Player allows you to watch your own personal video files, listen to your music files, and view your photos using the Roku device’s USB port (if available) or by accessing a media server on your local network.

How to play audiobooks using Roku Media Player from USB drive?

  1. Insert the USB device into the USB port on your Roku device. Roku Media Player supports drives that are formatted with the FAT16, FAT32, NTFS, EXT2, EXT3, and HFS+ file systems. 

2. Select Audio from the Media Type Selection screen.

3. Choose the device that has the content you wish to play.

4. Navigate through your folders to find the content you wish to play. If the desired file is in an unsupported file format, then it will not be displayed.

5. When you find the content you wish to play press OK or Play button on your remote.
